Winsford Salt Baron’s wife, Violet Hamlett must question her privileged existence when the horrors of the Great War bring family tragedy and lay bare the working conditions of the working women in her husband’s saltworks.

Elizabeth, a direct descendant of Violet, relates a gripping tale of the extremes of privilege and poverty in Winsford in the early 1900s.
